We need to get Lecavalier here but get the Flyers to pay as much as possible of his salary. They are at least 2 million over the cap, need to dump his salary but we certainly don't need to do them any favors after the Weber fiasco.

Seriously is there a team out there that mismanages the cap as badly as the Flyers? All to compose very mediocre teams. Maybe Hextall can clean things up there.

I'm not saying they should or shouldn't pursue another center, but Olli Jokinen is not the answer. Possibly the most overrated player in the game. He'll put up his 45 points a year and disappear when you need him most.

The REAL good news is that you guys have a Shea Weber, and you can never count a team with Shea Weber out.

The Flyers don't need to dump any salary. They can be up to $4.921M over the cap due to Pronger's upcoming LTIR. They'd like to clear it, yes, but a dump is not necessary.

Boston probably is next in line after the Flyers. Holmgren always did a, "OOooooh, shiny new toy!!!" in UFA and tried to get a jump on resigning upcoming FA's after career years, which has put them in a bind. Hextall seems to want to go a different direction.

Great signing with Volchy... The guy is a warrior... He should really be used in your 3rd pairing and not much more but he is fearless and is a good example to the kids of hard work every shift. I can't say how much I loved him when he was a Senator back in the day. I had wished he was going to resign with us and it would have been my first non Alfie jersey if he had. He is amongst my top 5 Senators of all time and I wish him the best in Smashville.

The Preds should bring in somebody for a 1yr contract to replace Fischer for now. U don't need to trade for Vinny only bc of his contract is not needed (unless Philly willing to pay a big chunk). Volchenkov is a nice signing

Don't know whats left for roster room & cap space but just keep bringing in O and your team will be fine!!!

We certainly don't need to sign/trade just to say you signed or traded for a center, HOWEVER, we ( read GMDP) needs to find a move.

His job is to find solutions to roster problems. The injury to Fish is sad and bad for the team, BUT it could have been much worse if it had happened early season. The timing could have been much worse. Considering his age it's possible he doesn't come back. I doubt that, but there are no guarantees. Think back 1 offseason and remember the gamble we took w/ a back-up goalie.

It may not be a #1 center, but he needs to be aggressive and get someone worthy to play as our #1 center. We seemed to be looking for one before the injury so we certainly need one even more now.

His job could/should depend on it.

Considering everything that happened last year with the timing and seriousness of Rinne's injury and still only 3points out of a playoff position, I don't see a rush to find someone to anchor down what Fisher does. I say let some of the young blood prove they can do it with the vet guys like Weber and now Jokinen. Sure he doesn't have the stud star status of a number 1centre, but his leadership and his willingness to do what is needed with help guys like Wilson and Jarrod. I say we stand pat till the Xmas roster freeze and see where Fisher stands, if he is still always away, make a move but give the team a chance to prove itself.

While I certainly understand the reasoning on pushing the Flyers to take as much salary as possible to accommodate a Vinny to NSH trade I just don't understand the Joe Thornton idea.

He has made it very clear that he won't waive. Im not bashing NSH because the Flyers are in no better shape than they are, but why would he leave a place he is comfortable with and has had success for a team like NSH? Thats not me bashing Nashville. I enjoy you guys but it would seem like a weird destination for him to agree to waive to go to.

If you don't clear salary you will not be able to anything to address any injury issues or poor performance issues that invariably happens during the season. What if a star player gets suspended for grabbing another players A$$? Hearing the Flyers want teams to absorb some of Pronger's LTIR money as well in a trade. Is that even permissible by the league?

If you factor in the LTIR savings with Pronger (which can be maximized by a few roster moves at the 1st day of the season) it's about 3 million dollars in Cap room. That is sufficient enough going into the season. That's with Vinny on board. Vinny isn't a cap dump as much as he isn't a good fit. If he was comparable at wing as he is at center it's easier, but he's not and he wasn't healthy last year either. We have young centers on our team that should stay center and develop from there. But I don't see Hexy retaining a large chunk of that money, I'm sure both he and Berube are fully prepared to ice a roster with Vinny Lecavalier on it.

We have a lot of centers so trade for Richards. Not that I want to see him gone, but it's a realistic option. I really think he turns it around this season.

I’m not joining the “doom and gloom” brigade that has broken out over the past 18 hours. Fisher’s injury is an impact but frankly… it’s not a season-killer. Not on July 8. There are too many options and too many moves to be made to call it that.

Agreed. Don't go out an overpay for someone or give up anything significant when Fisher is going to be out for at the most 35-40 games. It's not the season.

Unless Weber sustains a major injury, along with a few players having terrible years...I don't see it happening. I doubt they are in the bottom 5.

He was traded for Cal Clutterbuck and a 3rd because he was developed properly by the Ilse? A top 5 pick for that return shows you that the Islanders did nothing, but mess up his development.
